Author Jaykay Heart’s third book entitled “The year of Paper Boats” has already created a space in the hearts of readers. In the recent interview Author Jaykay shares with us some interesting views around his writing journey. Have a look at what your favourite author shares about his journey as author.
1. If you could tell your younger self who’s into literature, anything, what would it be?
Ans. First thing that I would like to say is that don’t be astounded when you reach a point of making a choice. Every choice you make is always the right choice. So, trust your soul, follow your instinct and stay committed to your choice no matter what. Secondly, hurdles or no hurdles are part and parcel of life. So, enjoy the god damn trip and pass this wisdom to your younger self. Every choice you make is meant to give some life experiences and lessons that you will never forget. You have 2 choices in life- make a choice now or regret later.
2. What personal experiences or inspirations led you to write “Paper Boats”?
Ans. As an author, the inspiration for “The Year Of Paper Boats” emerged from a confluence of personal experiences and a deep fascination with the human spirit’s resilience. I wanted to explore how individuals confront their fears, make critical decisions, and form connections with others when survival is at stake. The characters in “The Year Of Paper Boats” reflect various facets of humanity, each navigating their own storms-both literal and metaphorical. Ultimately, this novel is a testament to the indomitable spirit of survival and the bonds that can be forged in the face of adversity.
3. How did the concept of this psychological thriller first emerge in your imagination?
Ans. I started with a simple scenario: a seemingly ordinary situation that spirals into chaos. Perhaps it began with a seemingly innocuous event, from there, I imagined how small, seemingly unrelated events could intertwine to create a web of intrigue. I envisioned characters who are deeply flawed yet relatable.
4. What’s the best way to market your books?
Ans. I personally believe that the best way to market one’s book in this “modern age” is via social media. A lot is happening over social media and people are conscious enough to recognize and project the quality works. The Internet has evolved so much and it has come to a point where anything and everything is transparent where true artists and their works do get recognized in a limited time span. So, summing up, both the quality of the book and marketing, go hand in hand. If you don’t market a book with amazing content, it will barely remain in one’s book shelves. At the same time, if you invest a lot of money into marketing but the quality of work is poor, yet again it will not flourish. So, as an author he or she needs to find a balance and focus on both the aspects.
We wish him best luck for his upcoming book “The year of Paper Boats” and hope that readers experience a rich taste of fantastical blend while reading it!
